Volunteer with Friends of Freeman Station

freeman station volunteersFriends of Freeman Station blog:

As the weather warms, Volunteer Work Days are resuming at Freeman Station.  Please earmark your calendar for Saturday, April 16th and Saturday, April 30th.  More than 3,000 hours of volunteer efforts have gone into Station restoration, and that work will continue in April and across the Summer (yes, it really will be Summer).  We can use your varied talents:  painting, scraping, sanding, grounds keeping, carpentry, and the like… as well as many other tasks.  Wear old clothes, protective boots if you have them — if you can help, please email info@freemanstation.ca for more details and to let us know you are available.

The station is located at 1285 Fairview Street, between Brant Street and Maple Avenue, beside the Burlington Fire Department.

A Better Burlington began in 2006 after my neighbours said they felt left out of city decisions, learning about them only after they’d been made.

As journalist for 22 years, I thought “I can do something about that” and a website and newsletter were born. They’ve taken various forms and names over the years, but the intent remains: To let you know what’s happening at City Hall before decisions are made, so you can influence outcomes for A Better Burlington.

The best decisions are made when elected representatives tap the wisdom of our community members, and welcome many different perspectives. This site allows residents to comment and debate with each other; our Commenting Guidelines established in 2016 aim to keep debate respectful.
