Fire crews remain on scene at Paletta Court, everyone safe

City of Burlington Fire press release – The City of Burlington Fire Department was called to the Paletta International building at 4480 Paletta Crt. yesterday afternoon at 4:10 p.m. for a blaze that engulfed approximately a third of the Tender Choice Food headquarters.

The building had been fully evacuated by Tender Choice Foods before the fire department arrived. Everyone is safe and accounted for.

At the time of this release, Burlington Fire Department crews remain on scene at Paletta Court with three aerial trucks working on putting out hot spots.

The Ontario Fire Marshals office has been called and is expected to arrive on the scene this morning.

Crews from the Town of Oakville and City of Hamilton Fire Departments provided assistance on scene while the Halton Regional Police closed Appleby Line from Harvester Road to South Service Road. Residents in the area were advised to close their windows due to the amount of smoke caused by the fire. The Ministry of the Environment attended as well.

The Burlington Fire Department is grateful to our neighbouring fire departments for helping us to respond.

My Take: I’m grateful everyone is safe, and appreciate the work our our fire department and assistance of neighbouring fire departments. My thoughts go out to the Paletta family and employees as they deal with this devastating loss.
