Proposed redevelopment of Prospect

The owners of an apartment/townhouse complex at 2051-2085 Prospect St. are exploring the opportunity to redevelop the back half of their property. There are currently 16 back to back townhouses, and the proposal is to replace these with up to four blocks of stacked townhouses. The owners (Starlight) have not formally submitted an application to the city, and are still revising their plans. They have agreed to work with me to arrange a neighbourhood meeting once they have finalized their concepts, and before making a formal application. Stay tuned for dates.

A Better Burlington began in 2006 after my neighbours said they felt left out of city decisions, learning about them only after they’d been made.

As journalist for 22 years, I thought “I can do something about that” and a website and newsletter were born. They’ve taken various forms and names over the years, but the intent remains: To let you know what’s happening at City Hall before decisions are made, so you can influence outcomes for A Better Burlington.

The best decisions are made when elected representatives tap the wisdom of our community members, and welcome many different perspectives. This site allows residents to comment and debate with each other; our Commenting Guidelines established in 2016 aim to keep debate respectful.

  1. What are the noise mitigation plans for all these construction sites popping up? I was so excited to move to this neighborhood, now I have a sick sinking feeling there is going to be endless construction noise forever.

What's your take?
