Habitat proposes rezoning/Official Plan amendment at 2384 Queensway Dr.

2384 Queensway Dr.Details of a proposal by Habitat for Humanity to construct 20 townhouse units at 2384 Queensway Dr. were shared at a neighbourhood meeting on Nov. 17, 2015.

Official Plan and Zoning amendments are required to accommodate the proposal. The site is currently designated Neighbourhood Commercial in the City’s Official Plan and Zoned CN2 (Neighbourhood Commercial) in the Zoning By-law. The current zoning permits a convenience/specialty food store, convenience restaurant, veterinary services, office uses, community institutions and retail stores.

The application would change the OP designation from Neighbourhood Commercial to Residential Medium Density, which is similar to the newer development on the west side of this site.

The notes and PowerPoint presentations from the meeting are available below. Planning staff will be presenting an information report to the City’s Development & Infrastructure Committee early in 2016.

At some point after that, upon analysing the application and reviewing feedback from the public and various departments and agencies, planning staff will be presenting a recommendation report advising council to do one of: approve the Official Plan/Zoning amendment; approve with modifications; or refuse. I will keep residents posted when this report is available and how to provide input.

My Take: I am open to considering the changes, pending input from residents, and review and recommendations by planning staff.
